Afternoon Pick Me Up: Energy Drink or Alkaline Water?
Here it comes again. You’ve just finished lunch and you’re sitting at your desk, staring at the computer with heavy, tired eyes. It’s the dreaded afternoon slump. You struggle to stay awake, but you stare at the clock counting down the minutes until you can go home.
Here’s another scenario. You’re a busy mom and struggling to keep the house, kids and husband in order. You glance at the pile of dishes and dirty laundry as you run out the door to soccer practice with the kids. How will you ever find the energy to get everything done?
Acidic Energy Drinks
For many people in these or similar situations, their first thought is to grab a sugary, acidic energy drink. If you’re like me, you’ve come to know these drinks well. There are so many different energy drinks on the market today with high-energy names and clever slogans.
These drinks contain high amounts of caffeine and other stimulants such as ginseng, taurine and guarna. Some are loaded with sugar and some are sugar-free and packed with artificial sweeteners. You will most likely get some pep in your step after consuming one of these drinks, but is the short burst of energy worth the inevitable crash?
Side Effects of Energy Drinks
Some nasty side effects that accompany the energy crash of these highly acidic drinks include:
- Heart palpitations
- Increased blood pressure
There Has to Be a Better Way!
If you think there is no other way to increase your energy when you’re struggling to stay awake in the afternoon, I have great news for you! There IS a better way to increase energy, boost your mood, memory and concentration and give your body exactly what it craves. Ionized alkaline water is the answer.
Ionized Alkaline Water to Increase Energy
Alkaline water straight from a water ionizer machine is the best way to stay hydrated and full of energy to be ready to tackle your day. Ionized alkaline water is packed with oxygen molecules and antioxidants which can help to combat fatigue. Ionized water molecules are micro-clustered, meaning they are smaller than regular water molecules, and they reach your body’s thirsty cells quickly and more efficiently.
So if you find yourself ready to take that 2 p.m. nap, don’t reach for the acidic, dehydrating energy drinks. Grab a tall glass of refreshing ionized alkaline water. If you don’t have access to your water ionizer machine because you’re at work, just bring it with you from home in a bottle which preserves the freshness and ionized properties of your water. Look for a stainless steel bottle with a vacuum-seal cap.
Fight your fatigue with what your body really thirsts for… ionized alkaline water!
