What is Kangen Water?

Hi, it’s Bob the Ionizer Guy. Today’s topic is Kangen water. Enagic is the brand name for all Enagic ionizers, and their machines produce water that the Enagic reps have termed “Kangen water.” The big question is, is Kangen water any different or better than any other alkaline water? I’ll explain all of that in this article and in my video, so keep reading/watching. 

Most people in the industry use the words Enagic and Kangen interchangeably. Now, Enagic/ Kangen is one of the oldest ionizer brands, and they’ve sold a lot of ionizers over the years. Before Kangen, not many people knew about the benefits of alkaline water, so we should give them credit for spreading the word around about the benefits of alkaline water. However, just because they sold more units and are one of the oldest water ionizer companies doesn’t mean that they’re the best ionizer brand out there. So, before you get involved with Enagic/Kangen I’d like to discuss a few things about this company.

Enagic ionizers are overly expensive

You may not be aware of the fact that Enagic/Kangen is a multi-level marketing pyramid type company. So, when you purchase a Kangen ionizer, for example the SD-501 which costs around $4000, you’re not just paying for the ionizer alone. In fact, about $2300 of the $4000 you spend will actually be used by Enagic to pay out 8 levels of commission to their reps. So why would you spend so much on an ionizer that hasn’t been updated in the last 10 years, still uses obsolete solid plates and only uses only a single filter for purification?

 

 

There are several other units to choose from that not only cost less than Enagic/Kangen but are also technologically superior to Kangen. For example, the Tyent ACE 13 which costs less than the price of the Kangen SD-501 uses modern solid/mesh hybrid plates in contrast to the primitive solid plates used by the SD-501. The ACE 13 also uses a dual filtration system, unlike the SD-501 which uses a single carbon and calcium sulfite filter. Plus, Tyent and many other ionizer companies offer machines with more plates than Enagic. Tyent has units that have 11 and 13 plates. Just to note, the more plates, the better the ionization of the water, so having more plates is important.

Enagic ionizers are inefficient and not very durable

As I mentioned earlier, Enagic machines are very old and haven’t been updated in years. Kangen machines use solid plates that are considered very old tech and inefficient. As far as filters go, Enagic ionizers use only a single carbon/calcium sulfite filter which is not the best filtration system to go with and is only able to remove a fraction of impurities present in water. However, modern water ionizers like Tyent use dual-filtration which also consists of a 0.01-micron filter that provides the same filtration as seen in kidney dialysis machines.

Despite Enagic using solid plates which although aren’t known much for their efficiency but are still considered durable, customers often complain of how easily these plates break during routine cleaning of their ionizers. So, not only are Enagic ionizers inefficient, they’re also not very durable.

Don’t fall for their marketing stunts

A popular marketing claim made by Enagic representatives is that their ionizers are the only ones recognized as a medical device, but that is far from true. Yes, they might be the only medical device in Japan (as Enagic is based in Japan), but there are several other ionizer brands that are medical devices in their own countries. So, this is a pure marketing stunt from Enagic and you shouldn’t fall for it.

 

 

Enagic falsely claims that their alkaline water lasts longer

Another lie commonly sold from Enagic representatives is that their alkaline water lasts longer. What they’re claiming here is that once you’ve poured water from an Enagic machine into a glass, its pH will last much longer than other ionizer units. However, this is a completely bogus claim and completely against the laws of nature. No matter, which ionizer you use, the pH levels will deteriorate at the same rate.

Enagic offers very limited warranties

One last thing to discuss is the matter of warranties. Enagic is one of the few companies that only offers a 3-5 year warranty on their ionizers. On the other hand, most other good ionizer brands will offer you a lifetime warranty on their machines. Enagic representatives often try to defend their warranty by spreading lies about the warranties of other ionizer companies. They’ll try to convince you that lifetime warranties are a sham, but that’s not true. Good ionizer brands do have lifetime warranties which they honor, and you can read their warranty policy in detail yourselves, which will prove that they provide lifetime warranties on their machines.
